You can check if you're already using WSL2 by running wsl -l -v in Windows PowerShell.
In case you're still using WSL1, see how to upgrade to WSL2 here. But until then, you can use these instructions to get the sound working on WSL2. Microsoft plans to add built-in support for running graphical applications and sound to WSL2. Using this, the microphone won't work, or at least it didn't work for me (and I, for one, didn't need it anyway).
